About the advanced CSIT Program
In this Advanced Systematic Inventive Thinking course you will build on the work completed in the introductory course and develop advanced knowledge and skill of how to apply the Systematic Inventive Thinking models. This is a practical, “how-to” course where we will be applying the methods in a group environment with an opportunity to work on a current challenge or opportunity that you would like to explore during the course of the program.
In this two-day advanced implementation session you will learn how leading organizations around the world utilize the Systematic Inventive Thinking model to solve problems and create breakthrough results.
Join us for this fun, engaging and informative session where we will walk through all the Systematic Inventive Thinking models to innovate new services and products. We will better understand the innovation process - how we come up with creative ideas, and the process of turning them into innovations that drive results.
This course is eligible for credits towards your Masters Certificate in Innovation Management. This course is also recognized for continuing education credits for the Professional Engineers of Ontario. It may be considered the prep course for the IAOIP (International Association of Innovation Professionals) Certificate in Design Thinking. Participants have the option of writing an exam to receive this designation.

Day One – Advanced Tools and Application Techniques
- Innovation in Teams – How to Know Your Innovation Strengths using the Innovation Strengths Preference Indicator (ISPI) assessment
Learning to map your current situation (product, process, service, etc.)
Learn in-depth all 5 of the Systematic Inventive Thinking Tools
Apply the thinking tools using a Columbia case study with a group
Day Two - Application and Individual Project
- How to identify opportunities for innovation in your organization
How to start an ideation session
Barriers to adoption and stimulating innovation adoption
Individual project selection
- Final Presentation and feedback
Innovation Strengths Preference Indicator (ISPI) assessment

Cancellations and Substitutions
Substitution of registrants is permitted at any time. If you are unable to find a substitute, a full refund is available if a cancellation request is received in writing 7 days prior to the program date. If a cancellation request is made with less than 7 days’ notice, a $75 administration fee will apply. No other refund is available.
